Why The Fabulous exists
Betty Willis designed the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign in 1959 and never charged a royalty — she wanted it to belong to everyone. That's the spirit behind this site. The Fabulous is daily news for the 2.3 million people who actually live across Clark County, not the 40 million who come to visit the Strip.
Henderson, Summerlin, Spring Valley, North Las Vegas, the urban core — these neighborhoods have school boards voting on your kids' futures, county commissioners approving subdivisions next door, and planning meetings that shape what gets built, paved, or torn down. That's what we cover, daily and free, the way Betty gave the sign to the city: no strings.
The Fabulous is a presentation, curation, and distribution layer drawing on news that's already in the public record — press releases, agency feeds, and public sources across the valley. We focus on making that information readable, findable, and deliverable. The cost of running this is real but small, and reader support is what lets us stay permanently free instead of putting a meter on local news.
