Betty Willis designed the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign in 1959 and never charged a royalty — she wanted it to belong to everyone. That's the spirit behind this site. The Fabulous is daily news for the 2.3 million people who actually live across Clark County, not the 40 million who come to visit the Strip.
Henderson, Summerlin, Spring Valley, North Las Vegas, the urban core — these neighborhoods have school boards voting on your kids' futures, county commissioners approving subdivisions next door, and planning meetings that shape what gets built, paved, or torn down. That's what we cover, daily and free, the way Betty gave the sign to the city: no strings.
We have near-zero marginal content cost because we're built on the newsroom.vegas article database — which means we can stay free where the Review-Journal cannot. But "free to read" still costs real money to operate. Reader donations cover infrastructure, delivery, and the editorial work that keeps us credible.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
The Fabulous is a for-profit publication, so donations are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. We're transparent about that — this is reader support for journalism, not a nonprofit gift.
